Things to do on a Thursday evening: Rotos-off, Rotos-on on old faithful- owned this beast from new in 1991, it’s only ever had Rotosound_uk 10’s on it…and it’s all over the “Dreamtime” single!
So- today’s a day where it was time to breathe in; draw back the emotion, taking in the landscape and recharging the creative batteries for whatever comes next.
We were walking up near Haytor (on Dartmoor) just enjoying the space and the peace…
Thanks to the BBC who played “Dreamtime” today! Quite a moment to hear the fruits of all that work being aired on the Devon & Cornwall BBC Introducing show!
So. Today we laid down the last track for Nightfall. It’s an emotional moment. Next up is the mixing and mastering…but it’s been a long journey just to get to this point.
So….running through the acoustic tracks ahead of the next set of sessions in January. This means lots…and lots…of practice. Especially on the 12-string- not the easiest thing to play (well, not the easiest to play well…and naturally we’re after perfection here!).
Plus there is all the usual administration- emails, bills, communication, checking that everything is still moving along!
Most excitingly (for guitar geeks, anyway) is the addition of an EQD Aqueduct to the stable…it’s already providing cool additions to the palette and looks like being pretty indispensable!
So….this is where it all begins. Laying down the first takes, starting- as always- with the drums. Sounding beautiful in the room, so loud, fierce and authentic.
