Pulling together a huge tapestry of influences, from world music, through desert landscapes, heavy rock, folk to electronica, to the sounds of their own home in South West England, Dartmoor based Gravity Machine released their debut single, “Dreamtime” in December 2019. Since then the collective have released an album and multiple singles, all leading to the forthcoming second album due for release in 2026.
The collective operates under a commitment to free musical expression and artistic integrity foremost.
In 2011, Niall’s wife was diagnosed with breast cancer; resulting in her passing in 2016. Niall turned to music to process this loss, and what started as a distraction grew into a tapestry of songs documenting that process… along the way celebrating life, and the growth and expansion that can emerge from life’s events.
A short series of writing sessions at Harvey Summer’s Broadoak Studios in 2017 to revitalise Bob and Niall’s working practices (after a playing hiatus of 7 years) were followed by extensive writing and sonic experimentation in Moretonhampstead on Dartmoor to create a roster of songs that captured a wide range of sounds, genres and moods that began to fully reflect the creative goals they’d set.
Recognising that capturing this wide palette of sounds would require production skills above the band’s own, the band reached out to NME-nominated “super-producer” Pete Miles at his Dartmoor facility, Middle Farm Studios. After hearing the demos, Pete agreed to produce the album. A cluster of recording sessions followed through 2018 and 2019 allowed all the material to be fully realised, in a rich and satisfying record.
The collective has expanded since the initial release in 2020 and is currently finalising new material for the second album, after releasing a string of singles and appearing in live events since 2021. In 2021 the collective were joined by Beth Coombes on piano and vocals, and then in 2022 additional vocalist Yunala Songweaver arrived. Then in 2023 multi-instrumentalist Flo Fields joined the collective- each member bringing their own particular sounds and influences to the palette of work.
“Mullumbimby Calling”, a pop-rock track capturing a particular vibe, and appropriately mixed for the band by Kevin Shirley in Sydney was released in early 2022. Then later in the year, the collective releasing the epic track “Nine”, capturing all the depth and intricacies of heartbreak. Accompanied by an outstanding video, featuring members of Silver Moth & Abrasive Trees, alongside friends of the collective who had stepped up for the occasion. The video has racked up over 230,000 views on Youtube.
In 2025 the collective dropped their next single, “Find The Healer”, with an epic video conceived by Niall Parker and Adriana Banari, and featuring (for the first time) Yunala Songweaver as co-vocalist and Flo Fields on violin. The song itself references the healing journey of the soul, taking in Jungian archetypes and shadow references, and has garnered over 400,000 views on Youtube. Featuring guest appearances from Mike Malyan (Monuments),
From 2025 Niall Parker has also been in demand as a producer & mixer, mixing Ben Robert’s debut album and producing Abrasive Trees critically acclaimed debut album “Light Remaining” and a series of remixes for the band.
On the 18th June 2026 the new single from the band will be released. “Ally The Truth” chronicles an epic tale of relationship, truth, understanding and love, with layered harmonies and guest appearances from Mike Malyan (Monuments), Ben Roberts (Silver Moth, Abrasive Trees) as well as a majestic mix from Izzy Bard of Wildwire.
The second album is due for release in 2026 after recording done at Middle Farm Studios and at House On The Hill Studios, with additional work at Off-Grid Arts Studio.
The band’s third album is in line for production in late 2026 and likely release in autumn 2027.
Gravity Machine released their debut single, “Dreamtime” in December 2019, followed by their album “Red” (released in March 2020), produced by Pete Miles at Middle Farm Studios in Devon.
